He was raised and spent most of his life in Port Norris where he reaped the bounty of the bay following in the family oyster business. His love of the water and close ties with his partner brothers, expanded the “Jersey’s Best” brand oysters to a national market. He Captained the schooner David Robbins Sr. for 30 years before passing the torch to his son Bob. He was a faithful member of Faith Bible Church in Vineland, NJ. He enjoyed music, word working, and traveling.

In Tribute:

On behalf of the trapshooters in Delaware I would like to extend or deepest sympathies for your loss. Dave was a frequent figure at shoots in Delaware as well as our State Shoot. As a competitor and a good friend Dave Robbins will be sorely missed.
John Patchell ATA Delegate July 15, 2017

Dear Joan and Family: I will always remember Dave as the happy, goofy guy who threw blueberry worms at me and into my hair while I was packing pints of blueberries for him during the summers. I also remember him screaming "huckleberry" at me across a huge room in Las Vegas. What a guy!
I am so sorry you have lost your pal. I will never forget him and his big heart. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers now and forever.
With deepest sympathy and condolences, Carol Anderson Steketee
