Clarence Berry
b. January 17, 1927 d. May 28, 2017

CLARENCE G. BERRY 90, of Port Norris died Sunday morning at home under the care of hospice and family. Born in Port Norris, he was a lifetime resident and the son of the late Miller and Tressa Grace Berry and the husband of Jane Chambers Berry. Clarence was a founder of Berry’s Dairy, he also operated his families Salt Hay farm and in 1968 he started Miller Berry & Sons, a casket mattress manufacturing operation. Clarence enjoyed horseback riding and had his private pilot’s license. He was community minded and decided to run for a seat on the Commercial Township Committee. He eventually became mayor and also served as the Township Clerk. Clarence was a member of the Port Norris Baptist Church. 

Surviving are his wife, Jane, daughter, Barbara Moore and her husband Keith, son, Dean Berry and his wife Dawn, grandchildren, Tim Berry, Christy (Tom) Rhubart, Marcie (Ted) Russell, Jonathan Berry, Mackenzie Pezzi, and Danialle Moore, great grandchildren, Tyler Berry, Jessica Berry, Ryan Rhubart, Chelsey Rhubart, and Amaya Lee. He was predeceased by his brothers Warren Berry and Olin Berry. 

Funeral services will be held at the Hoffman Funeral Homes 2507 High Street Port Norris on Monday June 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Haleyville Cemetery. Viewings will be held Sunday evening June 4, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
