January 13, 2015
Speakers Drew Tomlin, Dick Smith and Charlie Moore

Starting the New Year right, the PNHS will hold our first open meeting at 7pm in our mortgage free building at 1723 Main Street in Port Norris. The January 13th meeting will feature three local speakers. Drew Tomlin will tell of ship building in Port Norris around the turn of the 19th century and of steamboats plying the Maurice River. Dick Smith will speak about Thomas Hand, a land owner and property manager also in the late 1800-early 1900’s. We recently received a beautiful certificate made out to Thomas Hand thanking him for his donation to the Betsy Ross House Restoration fund. Come and see and discover who signed it. Finally Charlie Moore will be with us to share information on several very interesting and historic items that he has donated. Exciting stuff!

Megan Wren is still interested in learning more about the "Skirmish" and believes more will be found out in time.

The absents of technology all day gave everyone a chance to talk with one another face to face. Ella

Sandy says the DAR was the best exhibit.

The Port Norris Historical Society always enjoys being part of these events. A great way to meet new people and catch up with those we don't see often enough. The added excitement of the Revolutionary War Skirmish this year made for a fun non stop day. Rachel Cobb
