Oct. 5

Martin Walford has moved to Dividing Creek.

Mrs. Dayton Campbell is visiting at Newport.

A steam-barge loaded with glass sand, bound for Florence, NJ, went out of the river to-day, with an oyster boat in tow.

John Campbell, Jr, was taken sick at his father's store Wednesday, but he is out again to-day.

James Bowen, of North Port Norris, moved to Berrytown Tuseday.

Miss Sallie Shropshire, of Mauricetown, is the guest of S E Pritchard.

Will Richman, of Bridgeton, was in town , yesterday.

Conductor Howard and Mail Agent Kienzie traded watch chains the other day. Each one claims he got the best of the bargain.

Mrs. Charles F. Whiteman, who has been on a visit to her father in Philadelphia, returned home yesterday.

There was a sewing party at Miss Sallie Robbins' last evening The persons present were: Misses Mattie Robbins, Janie and Emma Robbins, Mrs. Charles McDanle's, Mrs. Daniel Ferguson, Mrs. Lucius Yates, Mrs. Major McDaniels and Mrs. Walter Robbins.

Mrs. Frank Howard accidently knocked a lamp off a table last night and the oil ran onto the floor and caught fire, but by the presence of mind of her daughter the lamp was picked up and thrown into the yard and the flames were quickly extinguished with no more damage than a good scare to the family.

Belford Harris went to Mauricetown yesterday to witness the pigeon shooting there.

The Central Railroad Company have put a hot air engine in the tank house to pump water in the big tank.

Oct 6

Joseph Garrison came very near drowning yesterday. He was in the act of pushing a scow away from one of the piers when the pole he was pushing with slipped and he fell into the river. Jack O'Brien who was near made a grab for him but got only his hat. The next time he got a hold of him and succeeded in getting him out .When he fell in he was very warm and after he was taken out was taken severely with the cramp.

There will be a democratic parade here this evening and a banner stretched across the Main street at the Post Office. There will also be a meeting at the Wigwam next to the Post Office. A club will come from Bridgeton to participate in the parade.

The Republican Club meets tonight in the K. of P. Hall.

Mrs. Mary Williams, of Heislerville, is visiting her son, John, corner Brown and Washington streets.

Joseph Campbell is improving his sidewalks by filling in and curbing it.

Dry good boxes are in great demand now to keep potatoes in for winter's use. COLLY CIBBER

A regular meeting of C.M. Peace, No. 15, L. of G.A.R., will be held in G.A.R.Hall on Wednesday, October 10, at 7:30 p.m. All members are requested to be present. Business of Importance. By order of President, Mrs. Jennie Andrews.

The lumber is being carted for the Baptist parsonage.

Miss Mellie Chambers, of Newport, is visiting at Wm. Lambert's on Main Street.

Samuel Carll, of Bridgeton, was in town Saturday.

Joshua Sayres moved to Bridgeton yesterday.

Mrs. Dayton Campbell, who has been visiting friends in Newport, has returned home.

Richard Robbins, of Bridgeton, was in town yesterday.

Conductor Howard, who has been confined to his bed for three days, is reported better to-day.

Miss Annie Page, of Newport, is visiting friends in this place.

Wm. Fowler is sick with malarial fever.

Steward Joslin, of Newport, is visiting at Mr. Aaron Campbell's.

Eddie Stites is on the sick list.

Charles F. Whiteman, mail agent on the W.J.R.R., was in town Sunday.

Several young men from this place spent Sunday in Millville.

Mrs. Robert Dubois, who has been sick for some time, is out again.

The large and small Republican clubs go to Dividing Creek Saturday to participate in a parade there. COLLEY CIBBER

Mrs. Emily Garrison, who has been visiting her father at Newport, returned home Tuesday.

Mrs. Diekel, of Dividing Creek, is visiting her son at this place.

Mrs. Martha Husted, of Newport, is stopping at Mr. Aaron Campbell's.

Mrs. Lydia Johnson, of Haleyville, is visiting at Mr. Ethan C. Lore's on High Street.

Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Bateman paid a visit to Philadelphia this week.

Clarence Lummis, of Cedarville, was in town yesterday.

Mr. George Crosley, of Newport, is visiting his sister, Mrs. E. Garrison, on East Main Street.
