Family & Railroad Heritage Day at Bayshore Center at Bivalve
Come learn about local history and explore your own. There will be presentations throughout the day. Also on hand will be informational displays presented by local historical societies from Cumberland and Cape May counties. Learn how they can assist you with researching your genealogy or local history.
Heritage Day will feature our local railroad history with a "live steam" model engine display, HO-scale-model trains, Central Railroad of NJ display and railroadiana. Also learn how steam engines work. Come and find out about the railroad's important role in the oyster industry.
The Port Norris Historical Society was invited to participate in a day long event celebrating the heritage of the area.
Lisa saw 2 white swans in the river today and she made 2 oyster necklaces.
Age 9 RaeAnn saw different pictures she likes and made 2 oyster necklaces too. Age 9. Lisa and RaeAnn are best friends.
Norman Cobb enjoyed the railroad lecture.
Alvina Baum enjoyed speaking with many people about Port Norris on such a beautiful day.
Dorothy Cobb says every time she visits she learns more and more about the history of the area.

Diann Ewan, representing the Maurice River Historical Society, had a great day displaying pictures of East Point Lighthouse and talking to representatives of the other historical groups.
Jon, Nancy and Bob were down from Philadelphia for the day on this wonderful day. Thanks to the Port Norris Historical Society for being here. And also to the Oyster Cracker Cafe for a fantastic lunch!
It was a lovely day at the Bayshore Center, watching the tide come in over the Cashier. 2 swans graced the docks all afternoon. Perfect weather, so enjoyed the day. Rachel Cobb

Susan enjoyed buying pumpkins from Roork's, a pottery ghost, some cute painted Halloween gourds, and a neat upside down oyster can bank.
Thomas from Franklinville made a replica of the AJ Meerwald today. Age 7.
Courtenay enjoyed the pre-historic museum and Jack Cresson's flintknapping before going to the Faire for cat treats and queen anne's lace portraiture.
I was amazed by a wood carver who carves life sized horse heads, etc. from discarded dead trees. He breathes new and permanent life into something that may not have been so loved before his efforts.
It was a beautiful fall day in September filled with great conversation and familar faces from the past.
Bill Hughes Jr. and the Hughes for Congress Staff enjoyed the beautiful day and sharing the heritage.
Ameila and Morgan were tea burners today and they danced around the fire.
Ages 10.
Liam was part of the tea burners. He also saw one of the oldest cabins. Age 12.
Rachel Cobb has been enjoying the day talking with many people stopping by the PNHS exhibit. The fair has so many great artists.
Leslie Ficcaglia visited the Port Norris booth and the Master Gardeners. Beautiful day for a fair. Lots of great vendors and friendly people.

Had a great 2 days at the CC Artisan Faire - I worked the Welcome Tent Saturday all day and the Port Norris Historical Society Tent Sunday. Saw some old friends and made new ones. Lisa Kincaid
A new experience working at the Welcome Tent for the Port Norris Historical Society at the Greenwich artisan festival. It was very informative and interesting to me, since I live in this area since 1956. Met Rachel Cobb, a native to this area, on the Meerwald a week ago, she is such an interesting person, she mentioned this affair to me and invited me. Thanks for a great day! Susanne Obermeier
What a fun day!! Worked the table display for the Port Norris Historical Society at the Greenwich Fare. This was our first time display at the Fare and met so many people with roots in Port Norris. Great day. Pat Moore

November 7, 2014 Personnel at the state police Port Norris station have been temporarily relocated to the state police Bivalve Marine station while work is being done on their barracks, state police officials announced Thursday.
The Bivalve Marine Station, located at 2669 Ogden Ave. in Port Norris, is only four miles from the permanent station. The relocation will not affect response times or patrol duties in the areas covered by this station, according to a state police spokeswoman. The temporary move was planned in advance to accommodate renovations and repairs, officials said.
